MARVEL Tōkon Tier List – Best Characters

Best MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls characters in the current meta, and learn how to play each one.

Marvel Tokon's closed beta gave players their first hands-on experience with the game's roster of Marvel heroes. Based on beta gameplay, this Marvel Tokon tier list ranks the six playable characters according to their performance, ease of use, and overall effectiveness.

Note: Ghost Rider and Spider-Man were not available during the beta period, so this ranking focuses only on the characters players could test.

Marvel Tokon Tier List Rankings

The beta revealed clear differences in character strength, with some fighters dominating matches while others struggled to keep up. This ranking considers damage output, mobility, matchup advantages, and combo potential based on actual beta gameplay.

Best Characters in Marvel Tokon

Star-Lord

Star-Lord was probably the strongest character available in beta. His elemental gun system lets him switch between different attack types, forcing opponents to constantly adapt. He can fly, giving him additional mobility and attack angles that ground-based characters struggle to handle. His combo potential reaches 30-40 hits in skilled hands, making him a significant threat once players master his kit. His ultimate skill stands out as one of the best in the game, both visually and functionally. Most top players focused their practice time on Star-Lord during the beta, and he appeared on nearly every competitive team for good reason.

A Tier Characters

Dr. Doom

Dr. Doom is a strong, all-around character. His dash functions as a teleport, which confuses opponents and creates unexpected opportunities. The shield ability blocks projectiles from characters like Star-Lord, Iron Man, and Storm, giving him strong answers against zoners. Doom's combo system requires more practice than some characters, but the payoff makes the effort worthwhile. He hits hard and has solid setup options, though his slower speed compared to the rest of the roster creates some disadvantages.

Captain America

Captain America is the most balanced character in the beta roster. He offers good speed, solid damage, effective close-range attacks, and useful ranged options through his shield. He becomes incredibly strong once players learn the advanced techniques. His supers work well, and he feels like a complete package without major weaknesses. While he might seem basic at first, the shield mechanics add depth that makes him competitive at high levels. He was one of the most common picks alongside Iron-Man and Star-Lord in the beta.

Iron Man

Iron Man provides solid gameplay with good long-range attacks and two ultimate skills. Flying gives him additional attack options. Iron Man works well in the beta, but mobile characters can jump over his projectiles and close the distance effectively. His projectiles are useful but not overwhelming, and characters with better mobility tools can shut down his game plan. He's fun to play and effective in many situations, just not quite as dominant as the S-tier picks.

B Tier Characters

Storm

Storm offers quick movement and solid damage when played correctly. Her tornado setup and ice crystal ball create pressure situations. She's easy to pick up and her combo routes are straightforward, but you will need some practice with her to play her at her complete potential. However, she doesn't quite match the top-tier characters in terms of overall threat level.

C Tier Character

Miss Marvel

Miss Marvel sits at the bottom of the beta tier list despite having some strong tools. Her grab pressure works well. However, most of the roster can outspeed her and beat her quite easily. Characters with good mobility tools have little trouble dealing with her game plan. She struggles against everyone except Dr. Doom. Her combos are decent but nothing special compared to what other characters can do. Miss Marvel was my least player character so there might be a chance that she deserves a better rank than I have added her in.

The official release will likely bring balance adjustments based on beta feedback, especially for standout performers like Star-Lord and characters that underperformed like Miss Marvel. Players should expect the meta to evolve significantly once the full game launches with additional characters and balance patches.
